The announcement that the Government of “New Zealand has sanctioned the immediate transmission of one hundred thousand pounds of New Zealand currency to' the Lord Mayor of London’s fund for the relief of distress caused bythe German air raids on London lias been made by Lord Galway, Chairman of the National Patriotic Fund Board, to-night. In his statement, Lord Galway said that it had been decided to make & grant of £IOO,OOO in recognition and admiration of the wonderful courage and fortiude of the people of London during these most" difficult times through which they are passing. This finance would be provided by the National Patriotic . Fund Board, through Its Dominionawido organisation. The details of the allocation among the constituent patriotic authorities of the Board were now’ being arranged, but in order that New Zealand should make this gesture at once the Standing Committee of the National Patrotie Fund Board had approved of a gift of £IOO,OOO. This includes a; provision of ten. thousand sterling made from the Sick and Wounded Distress Fund by the Joint Council of . ; the Order of St. John and the New Zealand Red Cross Society to-day.
