MARRIAGE STOPPED SYDNEY, June 29. Police yesterday stopped plans for the marriage of a 21-year-old soldier and a l(i-year-old girl. Military police heard of the proposed marriage when they arrested the soldier in Hyde Park on a charge of being absent without leave lie was with another soldier and two girls, aged lb. The State police were notified. Constables Sutherland and Boswell, of the .Morality Scjuatl, took charge of the girls. ’I lie police learned that one of the girls had arranged to marry one of the soldiers yesterday afternoon at a city church. ; The girl had given her age as 23, and that of her companion, who was to he bridesmaid, as 21. The “bride” was dressed in jumper and skirt, with a coloured scarf knotted over the head. At Central police station two girls were charged with being neglected'children. . They were taken to detention home.
