WELLINGTON, July 12.

In' an address to" the Racing Confer, ence, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. W. E. Parry, said he knew it would be asked whether it was advisable, to continue sport at the present, time, but he would say it was inadvisable to cut it off abruptly. In the event of conditions being such that sport WQuld interfere with the war effort-, he felt the, racing people would be only too ready to call a halt. .There might be certain restrictions later on that might affect racing and other activities, but . they would be dealt with as they arose. Racing dates were altered as follows- Pakaranga Jlunt August 24, Foxton Sept 28, Otaki. Maori Oct. 12, Poverty Bay T.C. Oct. 26-Nov. 2, 72, ford Oct. 17, 19, Masterton -Oct. 17-19, Avondale Nov. , 9-11, Waikato Nov. 1(318, Ashburton County, Nov. 30, Otaki Maori Dec. 14, Kurow Dec. 28,, Pahiatua January 25-27, Matamata Canterbury October 17.’. with an alternate March 15, Otako Maori,. May 15-17, Ashburton County May' 10, South Canterbury. May 15-17, Manawtu June 19-21, Oamaru July 5.

The Conference elected the. following officers: —President, A, $. " Elwdrthy; vice, H. R. Chalmers; executive committee, Motion (Auckland), Wanklyn (Canterbury), Hanlon (Dunedin), Coates (Greymouth), Beaton Hawke’s Bay, Harriett (Southland), McLeod (Taranaki), "Turnbull (Wanganui) and Tringham (Wellington).
