CHRISTCHURCH, July ,11- - The desire of public servants in tlie Dominion to share in any salary increases which may be granted to workers by the Arbitration Court or otherwise because ,of the .rising, cost I of living has been expressed in a 'letter to the Prime Minister (the TRt Hon. P. Fras.er) by the general secretary of thte Public Service, Association of New Zealand; (Mr F. W. Millar). t .His letter is as follows: ,

“During the last three months there has been. much concern in the. ser-,. vice in regard to the increases in the cost of living that have occurred in the last two or three years, and tlie relation .to the ,rates., of salaries, payable: The association’s view is, - naturally, that it lias no claim for . any such improvement in salary rates except as may be extended to sections of employees outside the Public Service on the specific grounds of any increase that may have occurred in the diving costs.

■“I am directed . by. my executive committee, therefore, to put the. pro?, posai before the Government, that, in the 'event of employees outside' the Public Service being granted increases by the Arbitration Court or.-by any othqr means oh J account of the increase in the cost'of living l , the rates of salaries. of all 'groups of public servants be dealt with on the same basis.
