CHRISTCHURCH, July 10, The 'tending of prices to-day was <j;< Morally upwards, in comparison with .laist week,. at Addington live stock market. Store Sheep—The yarding was the smallest one of the season, there being only six small pens offered and these being nothing of note. Fat Sheep—There was also a smaller offering of mutton. Values were firm with a rise of 2s 6d per head for host wethers and Is 6d for best ewes. It was a keen sale throughout. Extra heavy wethers sold to 50s Id and best ewes to 35s 7d. Fat Lambs—These comprised a light entry, Chiefly tail-end lots, with few -butchers’ lots on offer. Values were firm' at the late rates. Fat Cattle--the beef entry comprised 495 head, slightly smaller than last week. The market opened .20s per head firmer for best cattle, later weakening to 10s a head firmer for the primest, with inferior sorts barely maintaining last week’s rates. The keenness in the earlier stages resulted in some pens realising to 50s per hundred lbs. . with a good deal of medium sorts from 43s to 46s per hundred lbs. The best of the heife r s and young cows realised excellent values. Extra heavy bullocks sold to £l9 12s 6d, host cows to £lB 2s Gd, best heifers to £ls 12s 6. A r ealers and Runners—These were firmer by about 5s per head. Pigs—Pigs were selling freely under a firmer demand, values being 3s to 4s per head better for bacon?rs .while porkers opened firm at ate rates, increasing in value by 5s uer head.
