NEW MOVE
BY PRIMARY PRODUCERS. (Per Press Association —Copyright). NEW PLYMOUTH, May 17. To unify the Dominion’s primary producers, and to facilitate the greatest efficiency of operation, fourteen farmers’ organisations have been formed into a joint and federated council, according to a statement made at Stratford to-day, by Mr W. J. Poison, M.P Mr Poison is the chairman of this Council. “Times such as the present,” said Mr Poison, ‘‘demanded that tfie farmers’ organisations . should not operate along divergent lines, but that they should be of one. voice in meeting the Dominion’s war needs. With this object, fourteen of tbe farmers’ organisations, suen as the Farmers’. Union, the Sbeepowners’ Fedei-ation. bodies formed by poultry farmers and fruit farmers, and all similar associations bad formed a federated council. This council would consider issues which, from time to time, confronted tbe component organisations of the Council. In this way primary producers’ opinions would be welded, and no ground would be lost through deviating opinions and cross purposes among the farmers’ organisations.* An all important activity of the Federation, he added, was in connection with the war efforts.
