General Itagaki, a former War Minister, now Chief of Staff in China, said the Chimse-Japanese conflict was caused partly by Japan’s boastful insults to China, -worship of things occidental, and Chinese dependence Europe and the United States. The American Press, quoting the Tolcio Domei News Agency, says General Itagaki accused Britain arid Russia of fomenting anti-Japanese feeling. HeMaimed one of the army’s objectives was to destroy the illusion that the anti-Japanese Chinese regime was instigated by Britain, France, Russia, and the United States.
“Armed peace may be expected in Europe shortly, when Japan should expect interference by third Powers, seeking "something that cannot be found in Europe.” / This is considered the most conciliatory appeal yet made by the Japanese Army to settle the Sino-Japanese; differences in the Pan-Asian movement to combat Communism and end Britain’s “monopolistic position in East Asia.”
