QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of the Hokitika Fire Board.was held yesterday.at 5:15 p.m. Present: Messrs A. It. Eleock (Chairman), S. J. Preston W, Braddon, E. H. Box, and Grant. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Minister of Internal Affairs, in reference to protection of vital points owing to the international situation.—Received. From Secretary, Local Government Loans Board, in reply to letter sent, ro investigations of the loan for building, and stating that they will be submitted to .the Loans Board at an early date.—Received. , From same j returning report, and stating that a reply had been received from the Public Works Department, that the plans and specifications were not satisfactory, and forwarding the Government architect’s comments upon the original plans, which may be of assistance in preparation of fresh plans. No further action, will be taken by the Loans Board until suitable plans have been prepared and approved by the Public Works Department. —Received; resolved to ask Collins and West of Christchurch to make the necessary plans. From Department of Internal Affairs, re Municipal Association* Act' and Finance Act, 1939, Section 40-41. —Received. From Local Government Loans Board, review of operations of the Board for the year ending March 31. —Received. From Government Printing Department in reference to the issue of New Zealand Statutes for 1939.—Received. From Hokitika Volunteer Fire Brigade, application for a grant of £2O for a team to compete at the Centennial demonstration to be held in March, 1940. —Received; request
granted. • a The Secretary reported verbally on two small fire alarms, one in the bush near the racecourse, and the other at Mr J. Fitzgerald’s house; also apologising for the absence of Supt. McIntosh, in hospital.—Received and resolved that a letter' expressing good wishes and hopes of an early recovery be forwarded to Mr Mclntosh. . The. Secretary . report: d receipts £234 8s Bd, payments £llß 8s 4d, credit balance £l4l 10s 6d.—Received' and accounts paid were approved. The Secretary reported satisfactorily on the tell-tale, clock for the period.—Received. . . *
