YOUNG FARMERS

CLUB PRESIDENT’S APPEAL.

(Per Press ‘ Association—Copyright). f PALMERSTON N., September 8, The President of the New Zealand Federation of Young Farmers’ Club, Mr E. AV. Barnett, has issued a , message to young farmers. “In consideration, of the state of emergency exist- . ing to-day, with consequent disruption <;f the work and activities of many organisations; I, feel it vitally necessary to make a special appeal to various units and individual members of the young farmers’ movement to ‘carry on.’ V "

“It is expected that the ranks of the various units will be sadly depleted on account <;f many members serving in the territorials, and that the activities of clubs will be considerably curtailed by the operation of petrol restrictions, but despite these handicaps, all clubs should make every effort to hold seme meetings and. keep, the organisation going. '\ a There were many reasons for this, \ one of the most important being that f should necessity arise, the movement should be ready to assist the Government iii implementing any measures necessary in this national emergency. Further, there is no other organisation which so completely embraces the young men of our country as does the Y.F.C. movement.”

At a meeting of the sub-committee, set up by Wellington district C l regarding accommodation for young farmers in Wellington during the centennial exhibition, it was decided to carry on with the arrangements until December i, when the position will be reviewed.
