Divers at low tide began a detailed survey of the hull of the submarine “Thetis,” which is about a mile from the shore, and two to three feet under the surface. Tire divers’ task .is now comparatively simple. An apparatus is ready to pump in air in order ,to bring the vessel to the surface. The valves on the hull are already broken to allow chlorine, gas to escape.
