ADDINGTON STOCK SALE,

CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 6.

Store sheep.—There was a small entry, and a better market than last week. Four six-tooth Corriedale ewes sold up to 2fis, and other sound mouth ewes trom 14s 9d to 225. Ewe hoggets fetched 13s 6d to IBs fid, arid other hoggets 6s to 11s 6d. Ewes and lambs soju to 12s lUd, all counted. Two and four-tooth wethers sold from 10s lOd to 16s.

Fat sheep.—There was an entry of 3700, indifferent in quality. The market opened at an advance of 2s 6d to 3s a head. There was an excellent sale throughout, with the butchers still short supplied. Best wethers sold at 66s 7d and best ewes at 60s.

Fat -cattle.—-The entry was 364. There was fair quality, and a good showing of steers and heifers. From the outset there was a keen sale, prices advancing by 30s per head for the best classes, and others advanced up to 25s a head. It was the best sale for years. Best beef ranged to 54s per 100 lbs. Extra prime heavy steers sold to £23 3s 6d; prime heavy steers £l7 15s to £lB 15s; prime hiedium steers £ls 10s to £l7 15s; ordinary steers £l2 15s to £l4 15s; light steers £lO 5s to £l2 5s - store steers to £9 15s. Extra prime heifers sold to £2l 7s fid; prime heifers £l2 10s to £l4 10s; medium heifers £ll to £l2 ss; light heifers to £lO 10s. Extra prime cows fetched £lB 17s 6d; prime rows £ll 5s to £l3 5s ; medium efnvs £9 5s to £11; light cows £6 to £8 30s.

Vealers.—There was a medium entry, which ,had an excellent sale for quality The best runners sold up to £9 Is. Store, cattle.—There was nothing .to quote, although graziers’ cows sold well, in accordance with beef rates. Fat pigs.—There was a medium entry. The market opened at a rate in excess of last market. These rates were maintained throughout. Baeoners were in medium simply, and had an excellent sale. Light pork fetched 44s 6d to 49s 6d: medium pork 50s 6d to 56s fid; heavy pork 57s 6d to £3 5s 6d, the price per lb. being 7 : yd to Bd. Light bacon fetched £3 -7s 6d to £3 17s 6d; medium bacon £3 18s -6d /to. £4 8s fid; heavy bacon £4 10s fid to £4 19s fid; and extra heavy baeoners to £5/12/6, the price per lb.'being 7d to 8' 1

Store pigs.—There was a medium entry, and another excellent sale for all classes. There was an exceptionally keen sale for weaners and large stores. Weaners fetched 11s to 245; slips 21s to, 255; and stores 27s to 395.
