SURVIVORS ARRIVING

There were touching scenes at Glasgow. Many of those rescued were' clad in night attire and covered with curtains'and ship’s drapes. Women were tearfully seeking their husbands,, who were fruitlessly seeking their wives and children. Many children are in a,state of semi-coma.
The survivors state many were, killed when the. boilers exploded. Those, rescued included less than year-old babies. A member of the crew, John McConnell, estimates that 25 per cent, of the American passengers Vere killed by the explosion. Numbers who dipd .on the rescue ship?, owing to wounds ami,exposure in tlie boats were buried at.sea. more;survivors arrive, (Received this day at 1.0 p.m.). LONDON, Sept. 5. Two ships landed several hundred of the Athenians survivors at Greenock. A fleet of ambulances instantly transported the injured to hospital, and the remainder, mostly women and children, the' majority scantily clad, showing signs of hardship.
