N.Z. PLAYERS AT BRISBANE.

BRISBANE, August 22. Fifteen New Zealanders are among the seven hundred entries, coming fron most of the Australian States, for Queensland’s biggest croquet carnival. The New Zealanders are entered individually for tournament play, and, a: three teams (N.Z. No. 1, North Island and South Island) for the tests.

The tournament began to-day. New Zealand winners in the Rose Bowl Competition were: —R. W. McCreatli by 26 to 13, and J. Thompson 26 to 10. The scores of the remainder of the New Zealanders to-day were • Mrs Nicholson 19 —6, Griffin 26 —12. Thompson 20 —17, Bagric 26—6, Bryant 20—11.* Brown 18 —14. In the Mrs Fisher’s Trophy Competition, N.Z. scores were: —McCreath 26 —10. Pritchard 24 —17. New Zealand losers in the Rose Bowl were Gambrill 7 —26, Palmer 18—26.
