MONTHLY EXECUTIVE MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Hokitika R.S.A. was held in the Soldiers’ Hall on Monday.evening. Present: Messrs R. G. Milieu (President), R. Paterson, G. A. King, F. McGregor, G. 0. Wilson, P. R. Whitford, T. Stuart, F. W. Foster, C, Hart, J. G. Johnston, W. Eastgate, Dr. Childs, G. Gilchrist, and T. Lynch. Messrs Wilson and Atilien were appointed hospital visitors for the month. The Pokeno branch solicited an appeal for assistance to bhild a Club Room. It was : decided to take no action in the matter. Mr W. Eastgate was appointed to represent the Kumara .sub-branch on the executive. Headquarters notified the distribution of £ISOO from the Canteen Funds and on this occasion there was no allocation for Hokitika owing to, there being no returned men unemployed in this district. The national number of unemployed ex-servicemen is quoted at 7601. Headquarters . forwarded a circular giving the financial membership of the R.S.A. up to, the 30th June at 11,263. Hokitika with a roll number of 196 was placed 13th on the membership ladder. Mr P. A. Taylor was appointed to the executive to fill the vacancy caused by the appointment of Mr Eastgate to represent the Kumara sub-branch. The Caledonian Society was granted the use of the Hall on Monday, Ist January, 1940.

Mr C. Hart reported that there were at present six ex-servicemen in the Westland Hospital and that regular visits have been made by the visitors appointed. The President extended a hearty welcome to Mr W. E. Brown, an expresident of the Hokitika branch who was a visitor to the meeting. Mr Brown ' I acknowledged the welcome of the Presj ident and paid a tribute to the work j of the R.S.A. in Hokitika and exhorted all present to continue their efforts to ! maintain the high standard of aehieve- | mont of the past few years. I j Jt was decided to send a letter of thanks, to Air Riordan for the donation of a photograph of N.Z. troops, to be . hung in the hall. j Final arrangements were made for the ‘ re-union to he held on Saturday next, i when it, is expected there will be a j large gathering of Diggers present.
