CLAIM TO ANTARCTIC LANDS..# (United Press Association—By Electri# Telegraph—Copyright). WASHINGTON, June 7. Admiral Byrd p informed a House sub-Committee, which is studying the request of a Government appropriation for another Antarctic Expedition, that those portions of Antarctica that fall within the Western Hemisphere, come under the Monroe and that only 575 nautical miles separate Palmer Land from South America. He added that this expedition, for which a preliminary appropriation of 340 thousand dollars is being asked, would ultimately cost a million dollars. The expedition would include three ships, with a personnel of two hundred, and would probably leave on October 1. and would return in six months, although it would carry supplies for two years.
