Final arraiigeipeißs for a . survey oi children’s feet ill tffe four centres, embracing the - primary and secondary (schools, so that standards may be laid down for the lasts for children’s shoes, have been made , by the Footwear Committee of . the New Zealand Footwear Manufacturers’ Association. The survey will be made by the school medical officers, and will cover the children from the. age of five to those in (their teens. The information obtained will be used to lay down standards for the lasts from which the shoes will be made, thus permitting children’s feet to grow normally. It will also permit the manufacturers to make shoes fitting all normal feet types. This is the first time that such, a survey has been carried out in New Zealand. * The Manufacturers’ Association’s object is to fit the children with shoes which will eliminate the foot ailments prevalent among older persons. Certain data will be gathered from the rural districts and the schools outside the cities as well, so that the information obtained will be representative of the. Dominion,
