>• Although lie ’gave fid reason, it is known that he was suffering from illhealth recently, and it is rumoured that he was contemplating siding in the world movement to help his distressed co-religionists. His retirement will permit Mr Roosevelt to make another so-called liberal appointment, although, since Mr Justice Brandeis is from the same group, the complexion of the Court will not be changed.
