The Madrid correspondent of the British United Press says: A declaration was made after a Cabinet meeting here. It extends the Government’s greetings to its air, land and sea forecs, and to ’ the civil population n. the loyalist zone. The declaration adds: “An immense task awaits the Government- which is sparing no effort to cope with the situation, which is one requiring fervent co-operation from our entire heroic national front. The die is cast. It is our’s alone to find a way out of our difficult plight by determination- »nu common resolution.

The rebel forces report hitting a loyalist destroyer during the bombing of the loyalist chaser’plane, and the -bombing of Valencia and Chillon. a I MADRID, Feb. 12. A :A bombing raid killed one hundred people at Jativa. RECOGNISES FRANCO. DUBLIN, Feb. 13. It is officially stated that the Government of Eire recognises General Franco’s Government as (being tthe legitimate Government in Spain. Mr H. L. Kerney, the Irish Minister to Spain, is going to Burgos.
SPAIN’S WAR MEN. (Received this day at 1.0 p.m.). TOULOUSE, February 13. 53,500 Republican militiamen, opting for General Franco have returned- to Spain via Hendaye from Toulouse during the past fortnight. One thousand three hundred opting remain Republican, and have been sent to Argeles concentration camp. Ninety-three thousand, five hundred civilian refugees have been tiansferred to all parts of France and 2340 sick and wounded sent to hospital. COURT MARTIALS. (Received this day at 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, February 13. ‘ The Madrid correspondent of the “Times” says bombing killed twenty, persons. The “Exchange’s” Barcelona correspondent says a court-martial next week will try at least 300 Loyalists, accused of meting out sumiMry justice, and also espionage and counter espionage. NO PERSONAL REPRISALS.
(Received this day at 1.30 p.m.) , . BURGOS, February 13. General Franco announces he does riot intend to carry out personal reprisals. He desires civil life to settle down without vindictiveness. For this reason he strictly defines capable political responsibility. Sentences will be retrospective to 1936. The Barcelona correspondent of the “Times” says the devastation from Which recovery is beginning, reached terrible proportions under the Loyalist regime. Two thousand priests, including 'several bishops, and possibly fami- , lies .which tried to protect them, were killed'. 1 Some were compelled to starve. .Nearly all the churches were sacked, and many were burned.
