SYDNEY. December 5

In an address broadcasted throughout Australia, Hon. J. A. Lyons referred to the circumstanices influencing the Government in its ambitious. defence scheme. He said ho did not believe for a moment that war was inevitable, but if wp hoped to avoid war, we must be prepared for it. He made a strong appeal for co-operation in tho campaign to increase the militia forces.
