RECRUITING RALLY. (Australian Press Association). SYDNEY-.December 2. The Federal Government held the opening of its recruiting rally in Martin Place during the City lunch hour to-day. -The opening was marked by angry scenes, in which leading Communists figured, whilst they were distributing their own handbills. The majority of the crowd . regarded the handbills as offensive.
Heated arguments occurred, and Communist speakers were howled down. The police were compelled to . disperse noisy groups.
