BRUSSELS, December 1
The Prime Minister, M. Paul Spaak, has decided to submit his Cabinet’s resignation before December 5, when leaders of his party who are hostile to liis ueclsion to withdraw the Belgian •diplomatic representatives from Loyalist Spain will consider the situation.
M/ Spaak prefers to adopt as the pretext for his resignation a speech by the Finance Minister ‘(M. Max Gerard) advocating economy and deflation in order to balance the Budget. ‘ ;
It is understood in London that Britain hits informed Belgium that her withdrawal from the non-intervention committee is regarded with the strongest disapproval, as a result Belgium has stated that although her decision to resign from the chairman’s subcommittee is final, she is prepared to reconsider her position in relation to the full committee. Belgium’s decision to recall her Charge d’Affaires and Consul from Barcelona and send a commercial agent to rebel Spain has led Loyalist Spain to recall its Ambassador from Brussels and delegate his duties to the Antwerp Consulate.
