N.Z. WOMEN’S TOURNEY. (Per Press Association—Copyright). GISBORNE, August 29. The New Zealand Women’s Hockey Tournament was continued to-day in Bhowery weather. The ground was slippery, after the heaVy week-end ram. Eastern disposed of their toughest , opposition in the B Section by rattling ' on four goals in the second half against Auckland. Eastern and Taranaki lead in the B Section. i Canterbury has a three point iiead, in the C Section, and Ashburton is one point ahead of Wanganui in the A Section. Results: — A SECTION. Ashburton 3, beat Hawke’s Bay 2. AVanganui 3, beat Manawatu 1. '' B SECTION. Eastern 4, beat Auckland nil. Taranaki 2, beat Wellington 1. Poverty, Bay B 3, beat Ruahi.ie mi. ! C SECTION. Canterbury 8, beat Nelson nil. Feilding 2 drew with Akitio 2. TEST TEAM’S SELECTION. GISBORNE, August 29. . As to test t team selection, criticism of the method of selecting the New Zealand women’s test teams this year was heard last night at a meeting of the managers of the women’s teains attending the Dominion tournament. It was decided to recommend that, in future, New Zealand teams should be selected after trials between North Island and South Island teams. A complaint also was made of many new sticks failing to pass the test of .the two-inch ring, after being tested by the dealers, and it was decided to draw the attention of the Dominion Association to the point. It was also urged that a properly constituted conference be held yearly at the tournaments.
