JAPANESE ATTACK. LONDON. August 28. The Shanghai correspondent of “The Times” says that after the Japanese attack on an air-liner on August 24, the German-Chinese. air line has'suspended its services from Hongkong to Hankow. The China National Company has already ceased its service. Continuous bombing has severed the railway, temporarily isolating Hankow. The Chinese believe that Hankow will hold out for six months; but foreigners believe that it will fall before the middle of November, The Japanese estimate that 800,000 Chinese are holding Hankow’s double line of defences, but they lack - artillery to deal with the Japanese naval guns trom the Yangtse. The Japanese are mustering a full strength attack on Hankow, hoping to avoid a winter campaign; but they are hampered by heat, sickness, and the difficult terrain. JAP. TRAIN BLOWN UP.
