FROM COURT OF ARBITRATION. (Per Press Association —Copyright). CHRISTCHURCH, August 29. The resignation of A. W. Croskery, the workers representative on .(he Second Court of Arbitration was announced to-day by the Minister of Labour (Hon. Armstrong). The Minister explained that Mr Croskery, who had been general secretary of the Amalgamated .Society of Shop Assistants, had riot’‘'cphip]etely severed his connection with' that body on account of his appointment to the Court of Arbitration being of a temporary nature. The Society riow wanted Mr Croskery back, and he liad accordingly risked to be relieved of his duties with the Court. lilr : Atriistrorig recalled that W.. E. { •Anderson, secretary of the Auckland Employers Association, who had been the original employers representative on the Court had also resigned because liis organisation was anxious for him to return. , It was a tribute to both men that the value of their service's was so. clearly realised once they, had left their positions. Mr Croskery had asked that his resignation should take effect riot later than tho end of September. He was prepared to remain w ith the Court until then, so that the new workers representative on the Court would not be required to adjudicate on cases concerning which he had not heard, the evidence. There were ten cases heard in Wellington arid a number heard in Christchurch, on which the Court had, not adjudicated, find so that Mr Croskery might be relieved of his duties as soon as possible it was expected that the Court, would adjourn, and. dispose of all the cases on which evidence had been , heard. It iyas likely that the adjournment-would be taken ,as soon as the hearing of Dominion drivers’ dispute now being heard, was completed.
