A chatty LETTER. ; J; Writing from, -Edinburgh in July .Dr. . B. L. Wilson, in the course of, a chatty letter says:— .. V “We are -well settled in Edinburgh now and will he hero.- for some time, then going on to'London. There ,is plenty of work to do and I am in the middle of itt We went through France instead of round Gibraltar. - Stayed a week in Nice and did the Rivera and Cdok- tours. -It is. a lovglyticountry all, fully cultivated andi interesting buildings and;downs. Stayed three days. in : Paris -wh«re they were .-preparring t for the King and Queen,. Paris is .very 1 interesting—one could spend ■ much longer tliefe.,A couple of days in Loudon where‘.Time saw the Queen and 1 the Duchess of Kent and. Princesses Margaret Rose and Elizabeth afc close quarters. She was very thrilled over it. We also saw the white hot lava com* in,g down' flip top part of Strom boli (it was about dusk and showing well), so that was something more that June will remember t-oo—and on the other side of Stromboli is a- village—l counted 1-oughlv unconcerned the people are. All thesislands we saw—Sicily and the end of Italy—wei?e all terraced and Thickly cultivated—-no waste ground right up to the tops of the hills. One couldn’t ' help thinking of" the unused ground in N.Z. - It is an interesting'way to travel to England, 'but itis’hiice " to get off the boat again.""-'’ am'*:? I saw a in tile Glasgow,- Exhibition itt/tjieyN.Z. pavilion (we went there yesterday) and saw that there is a Health Inspector in Hokitika now. He will help “Billy” Gaylor lay the drains I suppose!
