DURING FIERCE GALE. ’.'Per Press Association —Copyright). CHRISTCHURCH, August 10. Kaikattui hotel at Kaiapoi was destroyed by fire darly this ’morning. There was a fierce southerly gale blowing at the time add the. hotel, which was a wooden building containing aboul 20 rooms, was quickly demolished, nothing being saved. The licensee, W. Clark and Mrs Clark and their two young children had to make a hurried escape in their night attire. The hotel, was owned by J. H. Spence, of Christchurch. It is thought that the fire started* in the kitchen.
