DRUNK DRIVER
FINED £75. (Per Press Association—Copyright). CHRISTCHURCH, June 22. Thomas Edridge, a farmer, was fined £75 when lie appeared in the Magistrate’s Court at Kaiapoi, and admitted he had been intoxicated in charge of a. car'. Default in payment of the fine was fixed at . three months’ imprisonment. His driver’s license ivas cancelled, and lie ivas prohibited irom obtaining another for four years. Constable J. Holmes said Edridge, who ivas a. ivell-known North Canterbury farmer, had admitted he consumed six beers in Christchurch, He left Christchurch for his homo, travelling by way of Rangiora. The police signalled to him to stop when he passed through Kaiapoi, Avith only one light burning but lie did not do so. Edridge was driving somewhat erratically, and a constable proceeded to traffic inspector Tait, avlio overtook and stopped Edridge and brought him to the police station, Avhero a doctor certified ho was not in a fit state to drive a car.
