The trouble had been aggravated by the influx of Maoris from distant places, ta.king advantage of employment or relief works in Hillborough V, and Onehunga districts. Notices for, cleaning and repairing the buildings oe-, cupied by Chinese were also insisted V ’ on. In all instances the cleaning has been done, but in ma.ny cases the re- \ pairs were not done and the Council meeting in committee on Friday last decided to sente closing orders. Some were old storage sheds and one was a cowshed. The Council decided to-day to send a copy of the inspector’s report to the Minister of Native Affairs, and another to the Akarana Maori Association.
