DAMAGES CLAIM
. £IOOO AWARDED AVIDOAV. HASTINGS, May 26. Damagc.s for plaintiff for a sum of £IOOO were fixed by a jury in the Supreme Court at Napier in an accident claim for £2500, brought by a widow, for the death of her husband in a motor accident. The claim was for £2O funeral expenses and £2500 general amages, and it was brought by Margaret Jessie Boyce, tor tlie death rif her husband, Leslie Oliver Boyce, in a motor accident at AV'hakatu on July 16 of last year. The defendants were Russell 'William Spencer and George M. Spencer of Hastings.
Counsel for the plaintiff, at yesterday’s hearing, said that Boyce was riding a motor cycle along the Hast-ings-A\ T hakatu road at a slow pace, a little on the correct side of the middle of tlie road. A motor-lorry, carrying a
load of shingle was being driven by Russell Spencer, a boy aged 17, along the Clive-AVhakatu road. The two vehicles collided at an intersection. Negligence was alleged on the part of the defendant.
