BOROUGH ELECTIONS. MR H. T. PARRY. TO THE ELECTORS OF HOKITIKA. Ladies and Geuclemen : „ 1 am again a candidate for positions on tne Borough Council, Hospital Board and HarOour Board. Borough Council. Whilst a Councillor and Chairman of Water Works, l have specially interested mvsclf on youi* behalf in the Water Supply Scheme, and particularly in the installation of the pumping scheme therewith, to which 1 rendered personal * and practical assistance Doubtless you are now aware that this installation is the best and only assurance against the past failure of the water supply. On several occasions since the temporary pump has been in use, a bteak-down with the lake supply has taken place, and had not the pump been installed, you would have been faced with the repetition of the alarming and deplorable state which happened some little time ago. I opposed the ‘.‘Lake Scheme”,, or better, the spending of an additonai £22.0>;0 of the ratepayers money, as unwarranted, because for the expenditure of less than £I,OOO, vhe pumping schenie would not only more than suffice, but in addition, be less costly in upkeep, and possess the very great advantage already mentioned. \ In my opinion the next important step to be taken is in the improvement to our streets and drains, and if re-elected, 1 shall be pleased to pay special attention to those important and urgent necessities. Hospital Board. During the period 1 was chairman of the works committee, I was instrumental in improvements vo the existing installations. If re-elected lam prepared to render services in the interest of the ratepayers and patients. Harbour Board. I have not been a member of this Board, hut if elected will endeavour to assist in improvement where possible and expedient. and commensurate with finance available. In concluding, 1 believe guided by steady and progressive hands, our town has every opportunity of. enjoying pleasant increasing prosperity. Thanking vou for support. Yours faithfully, H. T. PATIRY.
