The New Zealand wrestling champion Lofty Blomfield, suffered his first defeat since his return from America at the hands of Pat Fraley, the Canai dian cowboy, in a match which drew a capacity house to the Town Hall tonight. No falls were registered during the eight eight-minute rounds, and the decision in favour of Fraley was given on points. The Canadian made his second appearance in Auckland and New Zealand, having previously beaten Joe Tonti here. There was no doubt about Fraley’s superiority in Uo-night’s ' match, as it was clear from the outset that he had Blomfield worried by his ability to vary Ids' method of attack. MOEN BEATS KENNEDY. WELLINGTON, May 2. j In the roughest wrestling match seen I in the Town Hall in Wellington since i the Blnmfield-Forsgren bout of two | winters ago, Andy Moen beat Jack I Kennedy, on points, the falls being even. The referee was constantly warning the two professionals for infringements, and at one time stopped the bout and threatened to give a penalty j against the next to transgress. Kennedy took a fall with drop-kicks in the sixth round, Moen one with a dump iu the seventh, and the last round went in Moen’s favour. After the contest Moon had to have his lip sewn up where Kennedy had jolted it, and Kennedy was taken to hospital to have his arm X-rayed for a suspected fracture.
