BODY OF WOMAN
FOUND IN BURNT HOUSF,

AUCKLAND, May. 2.
Police searched the remains of a aixroomed house at Ksiraka, thirty miles south of Auckland last night, '(hoy found the charred body of a middleaged woman. Detectives are now on the scene investigating circumstances which may possibly be associated with (he case in ■which an elderly woman was assaulted in her home a week ago. Tiie house, which was burned last night, was owned and occupied by a spinster, Isabel 1 Josephine Bryant, 65, who lived alone in a lonely part of the district. The fire' was observed by neighbours about six o’clock. They looked through a bedroom window, but there-was no sign of Miss Bryant. All 1 the windows and doors were apparently closed and locked.
As no water was available the fire hod to take its course. Later a body was found, and it is believed to be that of Miss Bryant, but, has.not yet been definitely identified.
