This morning the masters and oflicers of the vessels, and of several others in port, / met to discuss the terms of a nevvj agreement to replace one which expueu ou March 31 last, and decided to have a further discussion of the owners pioposals and the situation, geuer- • ally tfc-morrow morning, with , the masters and oflicers of a further four coastal vessels which are due -at Wei-, lingtou to-morrow morning. As the masters and officers of the five ships decided to remain in Wei--, lington, their vessels i» consequence were unable to sail. A similar position exists at Auckland, but others, ports were not affected. The vessels held up at Wellington are the Kaitoa, the Gale,, the Kapiti, the Hawera, and the-Echo. The Nelson ferry steamer Matangi. was not affected, and sailed as usUaL; - . Union Company ships are not affected, as the masters and officers .of - that company work under a separate; agreement; but. all ooastal'. shippingcompanies owning small 'vessels are covered by the agreement under, dis-' pute. ! —' - ’ !
