WESTLAND SUB-UNION MEETS. Mr J>. F. E. Freitas presided at the .monthly meeting of the Westland Rugby Sub-Union, the following members beqng :presJsntMessrs |S. Moore, W; 1 Kearns, W. H. Stopforth, C. Barrett, A. Stevenson, J. Howat, D. J. Spence, J. P. Coulson, D. R. Dowell and E. W. lieenan (secretary). The Referees’ Association wrote requesting the appointment of touch jud- ■ ges for senior matches. Mr Stopforth moved that the Union • accede to the request, and make the appointment of touch judges for senior matches played at Cass Square. Seconded by Mr Moore aiid carried. Messrs C. L. Harper, S. Moore and A. Stevenson were appointed a board for Referees. The Ruatapu Club wrote nominating a. junior team and also notifying that , the ground would be in good order for all home matches. The. Club wa s accepted into the Union on the motion of Mr Stopforth, second--1 ed by Mr Kearns. Two applications for reclassification to junior status by J. Inglis and J. Malloy were given lengthy consideration, it. finally being moved by Mr Kearns that both the applications be ' held over, and the Club be asked to ’ supply particulars regarding Malloy and the Ross Club to he asked if Inglis was : weakening the club bv leaving. Secs onded by Mr Moore and carried, k The Araliura Football Club notified J that Mr J. P. Coulson was appointed as their delegate. „ .. A recommendation by the Ruatapu 1 Club that Mr Marsh be appointed a ‘ referee was forwarded to the Referees’ t Association. SATURDAY’S FIXTURES.

Arahurii at Arahura (H. Staines). . A motion bv Mr .T. P. Con Lon that the junior competition be opened on Saturday. May 7th., was. withdrawn. Mr Howat then moved that junior fixtures be played on Saturday, April 30th. with the. exception of the Excelsior. A y. Ruatapu match, this game to he decided at a later date.

THIRD GRADE. ; / 1.30 n.m.—School v.'Kiwis at' Cass Square (C. Fleming). 2.30 p.m.—Pirates v. Excelsiors at Woodstock (J. Griffiths!. The following touchline judges for the two senior games were j chosen ■ — Star. v. Kiwis: S. Moore and D.Diedrich. Cobden v. Pirates: J. Coulson and A. Cntbush. " Mr D. R, Dowell said that the West Coast Union desired that all senior clubs forward nominations for the selection of three selectors for the West Coast Union. The matter was referred to the various clubs to attend to. Mr Moore moved that delegates instruct their clubs to forward recommendations for selectors to the Union, final notices to he in the hands of the secretary next Monday evening. Seconded hv .T. Howat and carried. Mr Kearns moved and Mr Howat seconded. that clubs be asked to forward recommendations for senior and junior selectors to the Sub-Union, nominations to be in fry next Monday evening.

HOKITIKA REFEREES’ ASSN. At a meeting of referees held last. Tuesday, Mr S. Moore was appointed to act as the referees’ delegate on tho Sub-union. ~ Mr Moore was also elected as tlje referees delegate on the. appointment committee, to act with the Union delegates in appointing referees for the various matches.

The meetings will he held in. Mclntosh's Club Rooms fortnightly, commencing on Sunday next, Ist May. Referees are requested to inspect all players boots on Saturday next. Any persons wishing to assist the above, association in refereeing are asked to hand in their names to the secretary, Mr J. Butland.
