Prisoners sentenced by Judge Reed were:—George Alfred James Bell, 46, a. Post Office Savings Bank, clerk, on two charges of theft as a servant of the Government, and five of forgery, two years’ hard labour. Leslie "George Jacobs, 33, a painter, indecent assault charges, three .years hard labour, His Honour saving that the prisoner had to be sent away for a lengthy period for the.protection "of young children. George Lasselleg Amies, 19, remanded for sentence on Monday, on three charges of breaking, entering and theft. Air Reed said he had fully intended to send the boy to Borstal because he thought it necessary for him to be disciplined, but after hearing Uounse!, ho Would consider the matter further. Counsel had stated that the proceeds '
had gone to enable the boy to indulge in his hobby of radio making. He came from a good home and parents and. there was no reason to suspect him of any tendency towards the crime he liad committed.
