The fihii is a daring venture in the production field, bueven more experimental for Holier Montgomery who deliberately chose ti drop his accustomed heroic roles ;o: the characterisation of. a pathologies killer. His performance is remarkabh from every standpoint. 'Tin background of the story is a- countrj carnival and a small hotel, where mosl of the action occurs. Hunt Stromberg produced the film with Richard Thorpe directing. In the cast are players fron the original stage company who appeared in the play for for 55 weeks. Among them are Dame May Whitty, Meric Tottenham, Matthew Boulton am 1 Kathleen Harrison. Alan Marshall an E. E. Clive also have prominent roles.
