SYDNEY, March 11
The Rugby reporter of the Sydney “Morning Herald,” commenting on the proposal by the New Zealand Rugty Union that the All Blacks’ tour of Australia this season ihoukl begin w’ith a match in Melbourne on July 16 and end with a i atcli in Sydney on August 13, says that tiiis w’ould mean that only five Saturdays would be available for the tour. He adds: “It is customary to have six Saturday matches, and it appears that if Melbourne is to have one of the fixtures there should be six Saturday matches ft 3 that may make all the difference to the financial success or failure of the tour.
“The New South Wales Rugby Union, w’hicli acted on behalf of the Australian State unions, planned to have six Saturdays. If these are reduced to five either Brisbane will have to lose one of it 3 two Saturdays, or Sydney one of its three, leaving Melbourne one. The programme ( desired by the New South Wales Union could be achieved if the New Zealand team delayed its departure from Australia for a week.”
