PROPOSED RE-BUILDING SCHEME “Telegram received. Will endeavour to expedite consideration of the Board s proposals.” The above was the 1 reply received. by Mn A. 0. Armstrong, chairman of the Hokitika District High School Committee yesterday afternoon from the Minister of Education, Hon. 1\ Fraser. The communication sent by the chairman of the committee was as follows: “in regard to the re-building scheme of the Hokitika D.H. School, there has been an increase of 26 in. the roll of the High School with no roomforan additional teacher and class. The science laboratory and cookery room are . being utilised as classrooms, and the position is very unsatisfactory. J request that you now treat'the matter as one of extreme emergency.” ' SWIMMING SPORTS HELD. A very successful carnival was held yesterday afternoon at the Hokitika Municipal Swimming Baths, when the secondary department of the Hokitika District High School held its annual swimming sports There were very large entries received, particularly In the boys events, and some thrilling finishes were witnessed.
