OBITUARY

The death has occurred at Blenheim of Mr Charles j William Parker, aged 57. He was prominent in the New Zealand and Australian seeds trade, and was a member of numerous publ.c organisations.

The death of Mr Mat. Guthrie is announced from Auckllaud. Tile deceased was formerly a well known engine driver on the Greymouth radways, and later was transferred to Auckland district. He was a fine singer, and took part in many private theatrical ventures in Greymouth before leaving. He leaves a widow (nee Miss Margaret Divan of Hokitika).

The death took place yesterday of Mr William McAvov, a single man and a native of South Queen’s Ferry. Ed nburgshire, Scotland, at the age of 67 years. Deceased, who had been ailing for about three months, had worked in the Stockton, Paparoa, and Blackball coal mines, occupying the position of a mine deputy. He leaves one sister, Mrs J. Docherty, and one brother, Mr Hugh McAvov, of Runanga.

The death took place at the Grey Hospital last evening of Mr Wiliiam Leslie McCall um, of Matai, at the age of 47 years. The late Mr A.lcCallum had been tin ill-health for the past week. He was a native of the Grey Valley, and had resided there for the .past' 20 years, being ot a quiet and retiring disposition, but a favourite with all whom he came in contact. Besides his wife, lie is survived by one daughter, Miss Doris McCalluni, and five sisters.
