MUSIC-MAD AUDIENCE
POLICE RIOT SQUAD CALLED OUT
NEW YORK, Jan. 31
The police riot squad was called out to subdue an exuberant audience of 5000 in the famous Paramount Theatre Broadway.
Under the spell of Benny Goodman’s ‘swing” music, the audience danced up and down the aisles and on to the stage. Despite a temperature that was below freezing point, tbc theatre queue began to form at daybreak to hear America’s leading exponent of ‘swing”
music. Another attraction on the bill was Mae West’s latest film, ‘‘Every Day’s a Holiday.” Goodman’s catchy music started young couples singing and dancing in the aisles and on the stage. Ushers were overpowered, and the management called the riot squad to restore order in the theatre.
