A letter was received from the Westland County, advising that they did not propose to take any action concerning an official opening of the now bridge. The letter was discussed at length, and it was unanimously decided that the opportunity be taken to have the Hon. It. Semple, Minister of Public Works perform the ceremony on approximately the 24th inst.
In order to allow every one an opportunity to co-operate in the event, ft was decided to call a public meeting for Monday evening in the Kanieri Hall.
The secretary way directed to enquire into the costs of a broadcast, souvenirs, and other matters to have for Monday's meeting. A letter was also received from the County Council advising that they '•ould not see their way clear to undertake the drainage repairs passing through the proposed park. There was some outspoken criticism on this letter, as the Club had been led to believe that tho County would do this work, but after nine months had reached the decision submitted. It had been the intention of the Club to try and have some work done on the park, before making representation to the Government, as it was felt that little sympathy could he expected, when all that could he shown was a heap of blackberry.
