NAVAL INVITATIONS
WARSHIPS AT SINGAPORE. LONDON, January 51. In reply to a Japanese remark that no Japanese warship, had been invited to the opening of the naval base at Singapore, an authority said: “No foreign vessels were invited to this ‘family, house-warming party.* United States ships Avere invited >to ; Sydney, not to Singapore. “The American Singapore visit is just a by-product, a kindly afterthought,” he added. “The Sydney celebrations came at a most convenient moment.”
