A PRIVATE HOSPITAL. WELLINGTON, Sept. 23
When last month it was announced that the Bowen Street Private Hospital, Wellington, had been purchased by the State for Governmental purposes, comment was made from certain quarters on the inconvenience that would be caused to the public were the institution to he closed down immediately. However, as a result of negotiations with the Government, a company, the shareholders in which are members of the medical profession practising in Wellington, has been formed to manage the premises as a private hospital for a restricted term, pending the provision of other suitable private hospital accommodation in the city. The company, which consists of 40 shareholders, will take over the control of the hospital as from October 20. This action has been taken by the doctors concerned with the knowledge that there is at present an acute shortage of suitable private hospital acaecommodation in the city, and in the hope that this shortage will not be prolonged.
