FIRE OUTBREAK

IN HUGE OIL PLANT.

NEW YORK, September 23

The Press Associations’ correspondent reports that, a fire i s raging, and has got out of control, in the huge plant at San Francisco belonging to the Standard Oil Company of California.

The entile industrial district of San Francisco is threatened hv the fire. Terrific heat and a series of explosions have forced 300 firemen to stand by, virtually helpless. They are confining their efforts to wetting the nearby buildings.

The number of injured is not yet determined, but tho damage at present is estimated at more than five million dollars,
