DRUNKEN DRIVER
CAUSES DEATH OF MAORI. ACCUSED COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE. WANGANUI, September 22. Teki Hina of Ivauangaroa, pleaded guilty to negligently driving a car on the Fordell highway on August 18, thereby causing the death of Iveina le Tua. He was committed to Wellington for sentence. A motor car proprietor, gave evidence that he noticed accused was the worse of liquor and adviseu him not to drive. The Coroner, Mr S, M. Dixon, who took the rnquest simultaneously, stated that it seemed a P‘t, v that when a motor garage proprietor noticed a driver of a car intoxicated they did not have some authority conferred upon them to prevent the car being driven away, such as taking the kev.
