The news of the native’s death lias shocked South Africa, but feeling is tense ami further outbreaks are feared. The Yereeniging meeting was enraged by the refusal of General Smuts (the Minister for Justice) to attend and the meeting passed a resolution that a command lie formed to ride to Pretoria and forcibly bring him back to the meeting. It was also resolved to demand Government, sanction to use tear gas and aeroplanes to force the murderers of the policemen to surrender. Those present also acclaimed a proposal that the native settlement should be rushed and the population stoned.
