EGYPTIAN KING
FIANCEE SEEN IN PUBLIC. CAIRO, Sept. 16. Disregarding Mohammedan tradition, which forbids Egyptian women to ap pear in public, Piincess Farida is driven by King Farouk every day through the suburbs of Alexandria. The car is either the King’s favourite Rolls-Royce two-seater or the lashionable 8-cylinder American sports car which he gave his fiancee on her 16th birthday last Monday. In addition to the car and a 'cheque for £IO,OOO, the King gave Farida a diamond broody with a bracelet to match. King Farouk sterts out for F rida’s villa at 6 a.m.. and takes her to h s palace, where they swim in a marble pool before breakfast. From 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. the King is busy with State affairs. He lunehewith his fiancee, the Queen Mother and his sisters, and the afternoon if spent driving through the countryside o. walking in the palace gardens. As children, the King and his fiancee, who is the daughter of a State official, often played together in the palace gardens. It is there, probably next February, that they will be married, on the King's 18th birthday.
