DAIRY PRICES
SOUTHLAND FARMERS ATTITUDE. (Per Press Association —Copyright). INVERCARGILL, Sept. 17. Regret that the Minister of Marketing, Hon W. Nash, had shown no disposition to alter his stand on the gualanteed price, and also that the dairy farmers’ “front” had been weakened by the carrying of the resolution of satisfaction with the guaranteed price at the Loehiel Factory meeting, was expressed at a meeting of dairy farmers this morning. Delegates who went to Wellington to meet the Dominion Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union and to confer with the Minister of Marketing, reported on their mission to the IoJ farmers present. The opinion was unanimous that, in Southland, there would under the juice be little left for the farmer after rising costs had been met. After discussion, the following motion was carried: “That this meeting appoint a committee representing Southland branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union and South Island Dairy Association, to formulate a petition to be signed by dairy farmers in Southland and presented to Parliament expressing the views of da ry farmers with regard to the Government’s guaranteed price for the current season.”
