TEN BALLOONS
DESTROYED BY LIGHTNING. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Received this day at 10.-lo a.in.) LONDOXX, September 17. An electric storm over Cardington airship works, set fire to ten balloons aloft, in connection with experimental anti-aircraft barrage scheme for use in wartime. All were consumed before reaching the ground, though the near approach of one balloon to a tent caused the occupants to run for their lives.
