LEAGUE COUNCIL

ON PALESTINE SEARCH FOR SOLUTION. (British Official I Tireless.) RUGBY, September 16. The League Council adopted a resolution authorising the British Government to pursue the study of the Palestine problem with a view to finding a solution on the lines of the British statement of policy of last July. 'The Council agreed to the British Government carrying out the study and taking such steps as it might entail, and while deferring consideration of the substance of the question until it was in a position to deal with it as a whole, and in the meantime reserving its opinion and decision, it pointed out that the mandate remained in force until such time as it might be mollified.

The French Foreign Minister (AT. Delbos) said that the French Government appreciated the efforts cf the British Government to find a solution which would be just and equitable to all.

The Council decided to send a neutral committee to Palestine to examine with Arab and Jewish representatives tlie best means of partitioning Palestine.
